WHAT IS HEAD STARTThe Head Start Program serves income eligible families with children 3-5 yrs of age. Children and families receive a comprehensive child development experience that includes assessments and services in the areas of health, dental, mental health, nutrition, early learning skills, socialization skills and parent training. Children and families receive literacy, numeracy and cognitive development experiences that assist parents to assume their role as the primary educator of their child.
LOCATIONS/SCHEDULESWCCA Head Start has four (4) different options for parents to consider as they enroll their child. Center based options with 3 1/2 hour morning or afternoon sessions four (4) days per week are available in the communities of Annandale, Buffalo, Monticello and Howard Lake. Five (5) hour sessions four (4) days per week are available in the communities of Clearwater, Delano, Mound, and Otsego. Extended Day sessions 6 AM to 6 PM, five (5) days per week are operated in the communities of Buffalo, Monticello and Montrose. In addition to centers, a Parent Based option is available for those families that wish to have services in the home. Center experiences are conducted bi-monthly for Parent Based enrollees. Center and Parent Based activities begin in September of each year and end in May of the following year.
