Energy Assistance Intake Specialist
(Full-time, Non-Exempt, Seasonal)

The position of Energy Assistance Intake Specialist is directly responsible for the daily implementation of the client application/program recordkeeping/documentation/client tracking and other related duties essential to effectively deliver services. Identifying customer needs and providing a high level of customer support and service are essential elements of this role.

You would also be responsible for understanding customer needs and delivering a high level of customer support and service, including keeping updated on agency and county-wide services to refer clients to other services to help with their needs.

This position will work August 2024 through May/June 2025.

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED required (2 years of education training or experience in the operation of housing services, energy programs, or community service programs preferred).
  • Recent work experience in customer service and related office systems.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to interact with low-income individuals in a courteous, professional manner while displaying sensitivity and compassion.
  • Knowledge of and ability to work with other agencies/organizations in the areas of energy conservation and assistance programs to effectively coordinate services preferred.
  • Knowledge or proficiency in keeping records, preparing documents, reports, and various other documents in hard copy and digital format.
  • Demonstrate an attention to detail.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to use a computer and data entry software.
  • Desire to work in energy conservation initiatives and be open to cross-training.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation and a current driver’s license.
  • Must attend job-related training and regular day and nighttime meetings.

Homemaker
(Part-time, Non-Exempt)

The Homemaker provides a variety of home-based services within the context of light household cleaning and household chores, with incidental assistance with home management and providing companionship to elderly individuals age sixty (60) or above. The Homemaker provides home-based services to older adults, which may increase their chances of remaining in their own homes and living independently.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or general education (GED) preferred
  • Experience working with clients ages sixty (60) years or more and knowledgeable of county resources available to them.
  • Moderate knowledge and experience of common barriers that seniors face in living independently.
  • Experience working with software such as Microsoft Excel for tracking and reporting services.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Physical ability to lift 35-40 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and crouch, etc. to perform household maintenance duties.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally, with family members, program staff and individuals within the elderly demographic.
  • Ability to complete necessary training and orientations associated with the homemaker/companion role.
  • Ability to complete thorough routine reports and correspondence relating to services provided.
  • Ability to deal with simple problems quickly and without delegation within a personal home setting.
  • Must exhibit a mature, caring attitude, patience, dependability, and compassion while understanding the need for patient confidentiality.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation and a current, valid driver’s license, car insurance, and satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to attend job-related training and regular day and night time meetings.
  • Satisfactorily pass a MN DHS Background Study
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Grants and Compliance Accountant

Job Summary:

This position is primarily responsible for post-award grant administration and related project accounting. The Grant and Compliance Accountant provides internal support and accounting functions to program managers and agency leadership for the organization’s government grants, foundation grants, and restricted donations. This position is responsible to maintain compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and funder requirements. Duties include support of payroll, AP, AR and journal entries; assisting with the budget and audits; completing monthly and year-end grant and fund close procedures, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports as needed.

Job Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Review grant contracts
  • Record revenue and expenses for each assigned fund
  • Monitor budget to actual in coordination with program managers and others
  • Report expenses and submit invoices to funders
  • Close-out grants
  • Monitor compliance, communicate and enforce established internal control practices
  • Ensure that accounting records are maintained for assigned programs, as required by program regulations and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Assist with reconciliation of accounts;
  • Complete journal entries as needed;
  • Assist in preparation for program and agency audits and monitoring visits;
  • Assist with application of cost allocation plan;
  • Advise and implement new procedures as needed;
  • Provide back-up for Payroll and A/P; support 1099 completion and distribution;
  • Assist others in the administrative and fiscal department with special projects, and other duties as assigned;
  • Other Tasks Assigned.

Head Start Substitute Classroom Aide

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, or enrolled in a GED program.
  • Must be currently working toward obtaining a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA), have obtained a CDA, Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree. Those that are working on their Child Development Associate Credential must obtain it within 2 years of being hired.
  • Experience or ability to work with pre-school children.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to relate to and work with staff and parents.
  • Must meet State Licensing requirements for First Aid training, CPR training, Child Passenger Safety training, physical examination and Applicant Background Studies.

  • Ensure that the center site is maintained in accordance with local, state and national program standards and licensing requirements
  • Follow all sanitation guidelines by washing, cleaning and sanitizing all food related surfaces, utensils and flooring
  • Empty all trash receptacles
  • Set up/tear down center equipment
  • Purchase all required groceries
  • Maintain proper storage of food and utensils
  • Serve breakfast/lunch/snack family-style to children
  • Complete all CACFP food paperwork in a timely manner
  • Maintain staff ratio at all times when children are present.
  • Interact with children in a positive proactive manner.
  • Conduct/assist with tooth brushing, use of restroom, and hand washing activities.
  • Assist Center Teacher with implementation and monitoring of center activities.
  • Assist with health, nutritional, and developmental observation/assessment and attendance documentation.

  • Attend and participate in assigned job related meeting and functions including center, program and agency staff meeting and training assist in maintaining student files and computerized and manual documentation necessary to program operations

Head Start Teacher

Wright County Community Action (WCCA) is seeking a Teacher to join our Head Start team in Montrose who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families. You will be responsible for planning and implementing engaging curriculum that promotes the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. This position works 40 hours per week during the school year.

The WCCA Head Start program provides free learning and development opportunities for eligible families and their children ages 3-5 with services that promote school readiness and parent engagement, while also helping families connect to a larger community network. Through community based child and family development programming, we provide a variety of learning experiences to help children develop socially, intellectually, physically, and emotionally. Activities focus on developing language, literacy, creativity, math and science skills, social function and more. Students and families enrolled in Head Start also receive health, dental, and nutrition services, and community resources and referrals. Head Start provides services to all children, including those with special health, developmental or nutritional needs.

This position works full-time during the school year only with benefits being available year-round for contracted staff.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education, or equivalent coursework.
  • Classroom experience as an Early Childhood Educator.
  • Experience within a Head Start classroom is preferred
