Head Start Coach Mentor

Job Summary:

The Coach Mentor is responsible to provide CLASS observations and mentor coaching, overall classroom support and follow-up for WCCA Head Start teachers and staff at our center based programs located in Wright and Western Hennepin County. This position will ensure teachers are getting direction and supervision needed to successfully teach and implement the assigned curricula and practices which promote high quality learning and school readiness for Head Start participants.

Education and Experience:
  • Must have a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education, OR
  • A Bachelor’s or advanced degree and coursework equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education, with experience teaching preschool-age children
  • Experience teaching preschool children and Head Start program operations.
  • Experience or ability to train/mentor Head Start teaching staff.
  • Experience or ability to work with groups of parents and individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to establish and maintain accurate, up to date records and data tracking.
  • Must have access to transportation for regular business travel.
  • Must be available for occasional evening activities.
  • Must meet State Licensing requirements for First Aid and CPR certification, Child Passenger Safety training, physical examination, and pass a MN DHS required background study.
  • Must become a certified CLASS observer within 90 days of hire.
  • Must be able to utilize and operate computers in daily operations.
Job Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Develop individual practice based coaching plans and professional development plans with staff, including specific goals and areas of growth identified, based on classroom and teacher observations.
  • Implement the Practice-Based Coaching model by following the cyclical process of goal setting and action planning, focused observations, and reflection and feedback.
  • Implement data-informed individual mentor coaching plans, provide constructive feedback, and support teaching staff for learning and growth. This may include activities, reading material, side-by-side support, modeling, discussion, video recording, or other resources as needed to guide learning.
  • Utilize best practices in early childhood development based on Head Start Performance Standards, Creative Curriculum, CLASS, and other prescribed curricula used at WCCA.
  • Implement and assure compliance with all policies, procedures, and approved activities of WCCA and the Head Start program, to attain all program objectives and meet Head Start Program Performance Standards and the Head Start Act.
  • Assist Education Coordinator in overseeing the implementation of curriculum tools and activities used by teaching staff, to measure federally mandated outcomes for enrolled children, evaluated through Creative Curriculum Fidelity observations.
  • Plan and provide training and professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Train and support new staff as directed by the Education Coordinator.
  • Represent WCCA and maintain professional job related skills and abilities by participating in pertinent training, workshops, conferences, and meetings.
  • Ensure that teaching staff are monitored for quality interactions and provide suggestions to work with children, including those with special needs/disabilities.
  • Support the program’s School Readiness Goals and Family and Community Engagement Goals.
  • Prepare and submit regular manual and computerized reports and other related program activities and accomplishments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Type: This position is on a contract for 1,720 annual hours. The contract will start August 9, 2026. Summers off.

Aging Services Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Aging Services Programs at Wright County Community Action (WCCA) provide services for older adults and their caregivers in Wright County. Our current services include: Assisted Transportation, Homemaker Services, Caregiver Transportation, and Caregiver Homemaker Services. Our mission is to provide support to older adults and their caregivers by assisting older adults to live in their homes independently as long as possible and supporting informal Caregivers in their role. Through our services, we reduce risk for our clients, improve their quality of life, and provide support as individuals age in place.

The Aging Services Coordinator will have responsibility for volunteer recruitment and volunteer management, as well as Caregiver Education, Program Quality Control, providing Homemaker Services, completing Needs Assessments, developing service plans for our Homemaker Clients, Data Management, and Reporting.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work, nursing, counseling, gerontology, human services, or related degree (or a combination of similar education and experience).
  • Experience overseeing staff or volunteers to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Experience navigating social service programs is preferred.
  • Moderate knowledge and experience of common barriers that seniors face in living independently, and resources that are available.
  • Experience in keeping accurate records and maintaining organized files.
  • Demonstrated strong decision-making skills and resourcefulness.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to relate courteously and professionally, displaying a sensitive and caring attitude toward program participants, providers, staff, and volunteers by phone and in person while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to motivate people to understand the need for coordinated transportation service in our area to recruit volunteers and enroll additional clients.
  • Willingness to be assertive, tactful, use good judgment, and work as a team member in the ongoing development of Aging Services Programs.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally, with family members, program staff, and Older Adults.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to use a computer and software such as Microsoft Excel in daily record keeping and routine reporting.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation and a current driver’s license.
  • Ability to stand, walk, crouch, etc., to provide household cleaning duties.

Job Types: Full-time

Food Shelf Volunteer Driver

Job Summary:

The volunteer driver at Wright County Community Action (WCCA) provides multiply services for food security throughout Wright County. Our current services include Food Rescue pick-ups, Backpack deliveries, Mobile Food Shelf and Emergency Food Box deliveries. WCCA also does some home deliveries to clients who have no transportation or are disabled.

Our mission is to provide food support to low-income community members by providing food deliveries for each program.


Education and Experience:
  • Experience navigating routes in a timely manner.
  • Experience in keeping accurate records and maintaining organized files.
  • Demonstrated strong decision-making skills and resourcefulness.
  • Have good communication skills with staff and partners we deliver to.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to relate courteously and professionally, displaying a sensitive and caring attitude toward program participants, providers, staff, and volunteers by phone and in person while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to motivate people to understand the need for coordinated transportation service in our area.

Head Start Center Aide

Opening in Annandale.

The purpose of the Classroom Aide is to assist in the implementation of program activities, including the daily routine tasks that establish the basic foundation for a healthy and safe environment for Head Start children.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be currently working toward obtaining a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA), have obtained a CDA, associate degree or bachelor’s degree. Those that are working on their Child Development Associate Credential must obtain it within 2 years of being hired.
  • Experience or ability to work with pre-school children.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, or enrolled in a GED program.
  • Must be currently working toward obtaining a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA), have obtained a CDA, Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree. Those that are working on their Child Development Associate Credential must obtain it within 2 years of being hired.
  • Experience or ability to work with pre-school children.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to relate to and work with staff and parents.
  • Must meet State Licensing requirements for First Aid training, CPR training, Child Passenger Safety training, physical examination and Applicant Background Studies.
  • Experience/ability to work with Spanish speaking parents and children.
  • Physically able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to utilize and operate computers in child activities.
  • Must be able to act as bus monitor.

Pay: From $19.13 per hour

Head Start Substitute Teacher

The Substitute Teacher fills in for the Head Start center-based preschool teacher and is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment for children and their families when their regular teacher is absent.

Associates or bachelor’s in early childhood or child development required.

Head Start centers in Annandale, Buffalo, Delano, Howard Lake, Monticello, Montrose and Otsego.

Pay: $23.47-$25.29 per hour depending on education and experience.

Head Start Substitute Assistant Teacher

The Substitute Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting center staff in providing a safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment for Head Start children and their families when regular staff are absent.

Must meet MN DCYF qualifications as an assistant teacher.

Pay: $21.04-$22.54 per hour depending on education and experience.
